Updates, links and Messenger around the web

Updates
I’d like to apologize for being several weeks behind on comments.  A number of events have happened recently including losing my primary file host, loss of employment and related personal issues.

Links
Some of the download links were broken since my file hoster (which was kindly hosted by my former employer) no longer exists.  They should be all fixed now and I quickly ran through them all.  If you find a broken one, please let me know.

Messenger around the web
Scott Hanselman did a review on Video Kinect /w Messenger.  I admit I was looking forward to giving this a try myself when I got Kinect, but it requires Xbox Live Gold so I didn’t bother.  If you don’t want to read the whole review, long story short, it’s workable, but still needs work.

“Messenger” video call was on Rules of Engagement recently [via winrumors]:

The whole thing is clearly faked as the UI is just sliced in with production video elements, and both parties are severely clipped because of the Picture In Picture.

I’m not sure if I”m missing something or not, but it’s been quite a few months since I had any sort of video-based call (Messenger, Skype or otherwise).  However, I’ve used the removed-in-2011 handwriting in Messenger 2009 many times in those same months.
